Mayor Karen Bass Visits the “Beauty of Sri Lanka” Photography Exhibition at the 2026 Lotus Festival

We were deeply honoured to welcome Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to the Sri Lanka Pavilion at the 2026 Lotus Festival, held at Echo Park Lake, Los Angeles, on 11–12 July 2026, where Sri Lanka proudly served as the host country.

Mayor Bass was warmly received by Consul General Achini Perera and toured the “Beauty of Sri Lanka” Photography Exhibition, featuring an inspiring collection of award-winning photographs that showcase Sri Lanka’s breathtaking landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, ancient heritage, and vibrant culture.

During her visit, Mayor Bass showed particular interest in the photographs of Sri Lanka’s elephants. Surya Jayalath Perera, President of the America Sri Lanka Photographic Art Society (ASPAS) – Los Angeles, shared insights into Sri Lanka’s unique natural heritage, highlighting the country’s remarkable distinction as home to both the world’s largest land mammal—the Asian elephant—and the world’s largest marine mammal—the blue whale. Sri Lanka is one of the few destinations in the world where visitors can experience both of these magnificent giants within a single journey.

Mayor Bass’s visit celebrated the power of cultural exchange, international friendship, and community engagement, while helping share the beauty, biodiversity, and rich heritage of Sri Lanka with the people of Los Angeles.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mayor Karen Bass for taking the time to visit the Sri Lanka Pavilion and experience the Beauty of Sri Lanka through Photography.
